SatizMSXI Adopts Inmedius S1000D™ Publishing Suite™
Technical Publishing House to Produce IETMs for British Army Panther

PITTSBURGH, PA – November 9, 2005  Inmedius, Inc., a leading production-ready publishing software developer, announced the adoption of its S1000D™ Publishing Suite by SatizMSX International, an Italian-based technical publishing house. Initially, the S1000Dinteract™ viewing system will be utilised by Satiz to produce and deliver Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) in support of the British Army Panther project. Satiz will use the software suite to create all types of data, from Procedural and Descriptive (P&D) to Illustrated Parts Data and Fault Isolutions (IPD/Fault). Future applications will support Satiz client work for leading defence and commercial equipment manufacturers worldwide.

Satiz has predominantly focused on technical documentation for military armoured vehicles, civilian road and rail vehicles. In 2004, the company was awarded their first ASD S1000D™ contract, by IVECO Defense Vehicle Division, for the creation, management and deployment of S1000D™ data to meet the documentation support needs of the United Kingdom (UK) Ministry of Defence (MoD) Panther Command and Liaison Vehicle (CLV). The vehicle is based on a design by IVECO of Italy. IVECO is a world leader in the design, production and support of armoured and soft-skinned military vehicles.

“We chose the comprehensive Inmedius solution for our full first S1000D™ project because of its ease of use, productivity benefits and overall value,” stated Paolo Esposito, Project Manager, SatizMSXI. “Inmedius is the clear design and development expert in technical publishing software to support the standard. Along with guidance and practical advice on the correct way to approach an S1000D™ implementation, Inmedius provided Satiz with a powerful, end-to-end software solution and training.”

“Because it was designed and developed by S1000D™ experts, Inmedius’ technical documentation software removes the complexities of the specification,” explained Ian Proudfoot, Technical Director, Inmedius UK. “The fully integrated Inmedius S1000D™ Publishing Suite, including S1000DauthorPro™, S1000Dmanager™, S1000Dinteract™ and S1000Dtransition™, make it easy for projects to have a single point of call. The Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software addresses every facet of the S1000D™ implementation.”

Assembled and integrated by BAE Systems at its Land Systems facility in England, the £166 million Panther contract calls for the delivery of 401 light armored 4X4 vehicles to the British Army, with the option for up to 400 more. BAE Systems is an international company engaged in the development, delivery, and support of advanced defense and aerospace systems.

The Panther vehicles will be built during the period 2006 to 2009, and will replace a range of vehicles which are reaching the end of their operational lives. The Panther is designed primarily for strategic and tactical mobility with a high level of protection against anti-tank and anti-personnel mines. It is modular, with tunable armour protection and stealthy design. The Panther is lightweight, fully armoured against small arms, shell fragments and mines and is readily air transportable.
