Akimeka®, in Partnership with Northrop Grumman®, Adopts Inmedius® S1000D™ Software
Publishing Suite Supports Conversion of U.S. Navy E2-C Hawkeye Legacy Data to S1000D
Pittsburgh, PA – May 7, 2007 Inmedius is pleased to announce a multiyear contract with Akimeka Technologies, LCC, in conjunction with Northrop Grumman Corporation, for its S1000D™ Publishing Suite™. Northrop Grumman’s Technical Data and Software Systems (TDSS) is mentoring and working with Akimeka, a Honolulu-based company that provides innovative network, software, and web-driven solutions to Department of Defense (DoD) customers.
The business team is utilizing the Inmedius software to support a Navy E2-C Hawkeye aircraft contract awarded to Akimeka for the conversion of the program’s legacy data to the ASD S1000D™ Specification. The all-weather E-2 Hawkeye Airborne Early Warning/Command and Control aircraft (AEW&C) has served as the "eyes" of the U.S. Navy fleet for more than 30 years, and current production E-2C aircraft possess the most advanced AEW&C capabilities in service today.
“Utilizing the Inmedius Suite was critical in enabling us to establish an S1000D™ environment and successfully convert and deliver S1000D™ compliant data that integrates with the E2-C program,” said Phil Kahue, President, Akimeka Technologies. “The software’s ease of use, along with Inmedius’ assistance in the implementation and production, allowed the project to successfully start within a limited timeframe. We were able to make the first delivery less than three months after the contract was initially awarded.”
For the project, Akimeka worked with Northrop Grumman Corporation and Alu Like Enterprises, a nonprofit service organization dedicated to assisting native Hawaiians in their efforts to achieve social and economic self-sufficiency.
“After reviewing several S1000D™ management system vendors, TDSS selected the Inmedius Publishing Suite based on its ease of use and integrated editing and management capabilities, as well as Inmedius’ S1000D™ expertise and experience,” explained Ed Puckett, program manager, Northrop Grumman. “The fully integrated Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software set provides a natural progression for those familiar with other types of structured data management systems.”
