Java Software Developers

Java software developer positions are available within our operation’s Program Services Division supporting the Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technology Division (NAVEODTECHDIV) located near Indian Head, Maryland. We are looking to expand our technical staff with J2SE Application Developers who will build Java software applications and portlets for use in advanced systems that support Joint EOD operations worldwide.

Responsibilities:

• Perform modular subsystem decomposition and component-based software design.
• Perform object-oriented analysis and design using software engineering practices and current modeling tools such as UML.
• Implement stand-alone, distributed, and enterprise software applications in Java using commercial and open source application frameworks.
• Develop test cases and perform unit testing on Java software components and integration testing on Java applications.
• Draft technical documentation for developed components and applications.
• Help develop and refine standards for software lifecycle management, including design, development, documentation and issue tracking.

General Requirements:

• BS in Computer Science (or similar) and 4-6 years work experience utilizing Java.
• Object-oriented design and programming skills.
• Strong experience with Java programming language.
• Experience with Windows and Unix integrated development environments.
• Experience with SQL and data access using relational DBMS.
• Experience with Java application frameworks, JDBC and Java Servlets.
• Experience with Java Web Services/XML is highly desired.
• Experience with C++ programming language is a plus.
• Experience with JavaScript is a plus.
• Good communication skills; technical writing and developer support experience a plus.
• United States citizenship, due to government requirements.

Additional Helpful Requirements:

• Experience using the Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP) to build graphical user interfaces.
• Experience modeling an application’s persistent relational data and using SQL to access an RDBMS via JDBC.
• Experience with XML and processing XML through DOM and SAX API’s is highly desired.
• Experience with XSLT is a plus.
• Experience with Junit is a plus.
• Experience with web technologies is a plus (e.g., servlet, JSP, web services, etc.).
